Heal My Hashis - The Protocol

 

Most of you who have arrived at this blog post will know me personally, as a nutrition coach, or from my online presence and perhaps have some idea of my Hashimotos journey

For those of you who don’t - what you need to know is that I have been there and I understand how you are feeling right now 💗.

Tired, overwhelmed, sick, inflamed, confused and only getting worse 😪.

My first ‘flare up’ (that’s what we call it when all your symptoms start worsening) was in 2006 and it took me until 2008 to get it properly diagnosed and another 3 months to get it into remission. The immense confusion I felt when doctor after doctor prescribed me different medications and told me “you’ll feel better when you take this” then I would just keep getting worse made me feel like I was going crazy. 😳😳😳

I also felt like a hypochondriac with my family and friends who didn’t understand the deep depression, the feeling of hopelessness, that came with this illness. They couldn’t ‘see’ how sick I was - aside from the weight gain I guess. They didn’t understand what it was like to have so many different symptoms and things going wrong with my body that it felt out of control like a car careening off a cliff.

From that moment on I did not want to be in the hands of doctors anymore who tried to prescribe medication for everything and wouldn’t listen to my symptoms and see the bigger picture 🙅🏻‍♀️. 

While I wasn’t a nutritionist at this point - I certainly knew that medication was not the answer. I knew intrinsically that I could heal myself with diet and lifestyle so I set about finding the scientific basis of my illness and then the most effective elements with which to heal myself ✅✅✅.

I read every book I could get my hands on from that point on. Some were really helpful for understanding autoimmunity, some were completely off base and insane to read (medical medium anyone? OMG), then some were textbooks full of scientific jargon that I had to work through studiously. I used to take notes and then go and cross reference scientific studies and see if there were aligned outcomes or if it was just a bogus theory.

I have tried and tested anything that qualified as scientifically worthy 🏆.

All of the Hashimotos or autoimmune protocols I have read, investigated and trialled are SUPER complicated.

Don’t get me wrong - some of them are awesome - I’m referring to AIP and Wahls and Izabella Wentz and so many more… but I tend to get overwhelmed easily, and when I’m sick with a Hashimotos flare up this ‘overwhelm’ gets even worse.

When I get sick, I just need a step by step, blow by blow, ‘what can I do to make myself feel a bit better each day’ - rather than throwing everything and the kitchen sink at it all at once.

I couldn’t find anything that held my hand and gently showed me the way.

I had to come up with that myself 💁🏻‍♀️.

Each flare up I had to wade through the information, through the new science (because a lot of science around the microbiome is only from around 2011/2012 onwards) and through a new ‘trigger’ to understand how to heal myself. I kept persisting - and every time I healed myself I felt more empowered and more knowledgeable than before.

Now through flare ups in 2014, 2020 and 2022 I just get better and more efficient at this protocol and at implementing what I need to do to feel AMAZING and put my Hashimotos into remission each time.

As soon as I see the signs - I put my head down and bum up and do this protocol.

The last few years working as a nutritionist, coach, gut health and autoimmune specialist I found myself working with people time and again who had little to no knowledge about their condition. One by one I was able to help them and now the majority of my consulting work is from referrals - which made me realise that I was providing something different, something needed, especially amongst the Hashimotos community. I had the KNOWLEDGE. I had the EXPERIENCE. And I am able to communicate it really well which is my super power.

I started out on TikTok about 2 months ago and when I posted about Hashimotos BOOM 🤯 there was a community hungry for information and so grateful for the honesty and knowledge that I bring to the table. Hashimotos does NOT discriminate - in every corner of the globe people are experiencing this and do not have access to a step by step process to follow to be able to heal. Before TikTok I really only had the client in front of me whom I could help, now I had a whole community of people that I might be able to support!

I put all of my notes, all of my experience, together in a document that is easy to follow and that you can refer back to time and again. Once you own it — it’s yours.

I am also creating a community (unfortunately Facebook is still the best landing place for a group like this) where we can share information globally about where to get certain supplements, foods, and medical support.

This is the first protocol of it’s kind that I have developed and released like this - rather than coaching someone through it personally - so I am nervous as hell. I want to overdeliver the sh** out of it.

My intention is for you to heal.

My intention is for you to understand why and how.

My intention if for you to feel as empowered as I do with your back pocket full of knowledge about Hashimotos.
