Here are 6 reasons why I LOVE olive oil

Olive oil has been popular for centuries. Not only do we use it for cooking but it’s a great natural skincare & haircare alternative too.

I've recently started having a tablespoon of olive oil as soon as I wake up to reap all of its fantastic anti-inflammatory benefits (stay tuned to hear my thoughts on this once I've given it enough time).

Something else that I've been doing for years & years is drizzling it onto my toast rather than using butter. You're able to get all of those healthy monounsaturated fats with your protein of choice in one bite.

Beyond its taste & versatility in the kitchen, olive oil has so many health benefits that make it a great choice for overall wellness.

Here are six reasons why I LOVE olive oil:

  • Heart health: Olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fats, which have been shown to lower bad cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease. It also contains antioxidants that can help protect against heart disease.

  • Weight management: While all oils contain calories, the monounsaturated fats in olive oil can actually help with weight management. Studies have shown that people who consume olive oil as part of a Mediterranean diet tend to have a lower body weight and a lower risk of obesity.

  • Cognitive function: Olive oil is high in polyphenols, which are plant compounds that have been shown to have a positive impact on cognitive function. Some research suggests that consuming olive oil may help improve memory and cognitive function in older adults.

  • Cancer prevention: The antioxidants found in olive oil, particularly Oleocanthal, have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties that may help prevent cancer. Some research has also suggested that olive oil may help reduce the risk of breast cancer.

  • Skincare: Olive oil can be used as a natural skincare product to moisturise and nourish the skin. It contains vitamins A and E, which are known for their anti-aging properties, and can help protect the skin from damaging UV rays.

  • Haircare: Olive oil can also be used to nourish and moisturise the hair. It’s fatty acids can help repair damaged hair and make it softer and shinier. It can also help prevent dandruff and itchy scalp.

Overall, olive oil is a nutritious & versatile oil that can have numerous benefits for your health and wellness. Whether you're using it in your cooking, skincare routine, or haircare routine, olive oil is a great choice for adding a boost of nutrients and flavour to your daily routine.
